Ramadan Campaign 2009 Ramadan is the Time of Compassion and Blessings

Ramadan has once again returned; the beloved guest who brings with it blessings and hope as well as responsibility and reflection. Ramadan is the time to reflect on those who have been tried with hardship throughout the year with chronic poverty and malnutrition, with homelessness and calamity. The Prophet, peace be upon him described the Ummah: “The believers—in their kindness, compassion, and empathy for one another—are as a single body. When one limb is afflicted, the whole body responds to it with sleeplessness and fever” (Bukhari and Muslim). With the Ummah in such a dire state, Ramadan is the best time for you to extend your hand of generosity for poor and needy Muslims.

Hunger kills thousands of people everyday! Food shortages are a serious challenge knocking at the door of humanity! Ramadan is a good time to give a portion of our food to help someone have an Iftar-dinner and not go to bed hungry.

Last year, with the Help of Allah and the generous support of our donors, Zakat Foundation was able to benefit more than 180,000 poor and needy people. We distributed not only hot food for Iftar-dinners and food packages to last the entire month, but Eid gifts for orphans and needy children and Zakat ul-Fitr/Fitrah on behalf of our donors. Please help us reach more hungry men, women, and children this Ramadan!

Please share your food with the distressed Swat Valley refugees, the homeless people of Gaza and war-torn Afghanistan and those poverty-stricken in Africa. Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever feeds another during the month of Ramadan will receive the reward for that person’s fast, as well as his own” (Ahmad and Tirmidhi).

When you share, Ramadan will be more beneficial for both the giver and the receiver!

  • For just $1 a day, you can sponsor an orphan (healthcare, food, shelter and education).
  • For just $3 a day, you can provide a complete, Iftar/hot meal for one person.
  • For just $100, you can provide a family with a food package to last the entire month.

Remember to pay your Zakat ul-Fitr/Fitrah before Eid!

  • Zakat ul-Fitr/Fitrah is $10 per person.
  • Give an Eid Gift for $25 per orphan/needy child.
