Albania
A quarter of the Albania population is struggling to live under the poverty line. More than 500,000 Kosovo refugees fled to neighboring Albania during the Kosovo War in 1999 and many still remain in refugee camps on Albanian soil. Many of the refugees are ethnic Albanians, but the country was not prepared for the influx and still has a difficult time providing services to the population. Unemployment is very high and the agricultural sector is underfunded. There is an urgent need for food and medical goods for poor communities and refugee camps.
