Egypt
The 20% of impoverished Egyptians live in slum conditions with extremely limited access to healthcare and education. Medical conditions that are easily remedied cause unnecessary suffering and contribute to chronic poverty in both urban and rural communities. Many of the 70,000 refugees from Palestine are not given asylum in Egypt and therefore are not eligible for UNRWA assistance. These refugees struggle to find a place to live. There are also more than 15,000 Sudanese refugees in Egypt who have fled from the conflict in Darfur.
