Due to poor rains, food shortages, high commodity prices refugee influx, the human situation in Kenya has deteriorated drastically. Food and livelihood insecurity have deepened across many parts of the country and conflicts in neighboring Somalia have increased the flow of refugees entering Kenya. There are over 350,000 refugees in Kenya. Cholera has affected Kenya since late 2007, particularly in the north-central part of the country. Female refugees who are alone are in danger of being exploited, particularly those from Somalia. Refugees also have a difficult time finding employment to sustain themselves.
