Niger
The population of Niger is devastating close to total poverty and is being pushed even closer with the global food crisis. Now more than ever, humanitarian groups must pursue sustainable food, water, healthcare and education programs for the hope of the Nigerien people.
The majority of the Nigerien population lives in rural areas with extremely limited access to educational opportunities and basic healthcare. Chronic drought has turned farmland into useless soil and sand, unable to sustain any life. On the banks of the Niger River, locusts have stunted harvests.
