The United Nations recognizes 4.62 million Palestinians and their decedents as internally and externally displaced peoples with refugee status. Basic needs and standards of living are not being met, including adequate healthcare and education, food and water. The human dignity of Palestinian IDPs and refugees has been compromised.

In the summer of 2007, a blockade was imposed upon the Gaza Strip. This restriction on travel and trade has caused more than 2.5 million men, women and children in Gaza immeasurable misery and suffering. Supplies of food, water, and medicine have been virtually cut off and the economic repercussions are great.

Zakat Foundation takes care to ensure that all of our operations in Palestine are in full compliance with US government guidelines for Charitable Organizations, due to political sensitivities associated with Palestine.
