TajikistanTajikistan

A series of natural disaster and the subsequent food crisis has caused much of the population of Tajikistan to dip under the poverty line. Desperation and starvation have caused men, women and children to be exploited in forced labor, drug trafficking and begging. The next generation is increasingly susceptible to poverty, as employment is hard to find. Currently, food distribution is servicing impoverished communities but extensive soil degradation will require sustainable soil-enrichment programs to give the farmers of Tajikistan the hope for the future.
