A Glimpse of Reality

It has been one year since the devastating crisis in Gaza began, causing unimaginable suffering and loss for more than 2 million people. The UN has reported that 1.9 million people are displaced, 495,000 are facing catastrophic levels of starvation, and 625,000 are out of school. Thousands of families are struggling to survive.

But you answered their call. With your unwavering support through Zakat Foundation of America, we’ve been able to provide hot meals, emergency food, winter relief, hygiene packages, medical supplies and air-drop rice packages to hundreds of thousands of people—yet many are still in dire need. Continue to be a beacon of hope during their darkest days.

Faces Behind the Numbers

Rafah, Palestine

28-year-old Samah has been displaced multiple times due to war and is now living in a school with her four children. Her husband is unemployed, and she struggles to provide essentials such as food. “We need food, but we can’t afford the high prices,” she says. After months of scarcity and through the support of Zakat Foundation donors, Samah received her first meal with meat since the war began. "It was sufficient and filling," she adds. Despite hardships, Samah’s strength and hope shine through as she dreams of sharing meals with her extended family, holding onto the belief that better days will come.

Jabalia Refugee Camp, Palestine

Asaad arrived in Jabaliya from Beit Lahia with his family after tragically losing seven loved ones. At 36, he is a father of four young children and has been displaced seven times due to the crisis. “I had a good life,” he reflects. “This is my land, my birthplace. I cannot leave, and I refuse to move anywhere else.” Winter has only added to his hardships, but our winter clothing donations have brought some relief, even as his life remains unrecognizable from before the siege.
