For Muslims around the world, the seasons of Ramadan and Hajj hold special importance, as we come together to remember our greater purpose and our connections with those around us.

A big part of both seasons is Islamic giving, in particular the zakat al-fitr given at the end of Ramadan and the voluntary sadaqah given during both and throughout the year. We at Zakat Foundation of America have been providing Muslims several impactful ways to give their zakat and sadaqah during these seasons for years and in 2025, we’re excited to continue offering them. Our Islamic Giving Options

Ramadan Giving

We enable donors to celebrate and give thanks during the holy month of Ramadan by facilitating food distribution to families in need around the world. This year, Ramadan 2025 is expected to begin on Friday, Feb. 28, or Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Fidyah & Kaffarah Payments

We accept and distribute to the poor the donations of valid redemption payments, called fidyah, from those who have a valid exemption from fasting during Ramadan. We also accept and distribute the atonement payments for missed days of fasting during Ramadan for those without a valid exemption, called kaffarah

Udhiyah Qurbani (Hajj Season) Giving

During the days of Hajj season, on the day of Eid ul-Adha, Muslims can follow the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim, on him be peace, by providing fresh meat to families in need. Donors have the ability to sponsor shares of cows or sheep to fulfill this beautiful act of charity in any of the countries where we work during the season.

Aqeeqah

We convey thousands of charitable sacrificial offerings of cattle for newborns, called aqeeqah, to the world’s hungry and starving year round.
