A United Nations report on hunger described a catastrophic situation in Gaza, where more than 90% of the population has been facing “acute food insecurity,” and where “virtually all households are skipping meals every day.” In many cases, it seems negligent to refer to them as households when their homes have been destroyed and they’re left sleeping on sand — if they’re lucky, from within tents. While a long-term solution is in the works, the global community must provide immediate relief whenever and wherever possible within Gaza.
On our way to 1 million meals in Gaza
Zakat Foundation of America has been on the ground during this crisis, feeding Gaza’s famished. The nonprofit seeks to provide 1 million meals in Gaza to alleviate as much hunger as it can. This is no simple task, especially given the restrictions on aid entering the strip.
