Founded in 1956 by the late Shaykh Yusuf Islahi, Jamea-tus-Salehaat in Rampur, India, has been hope for young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, offering them the education and skills needed to build a brighter future. “Educating a girl is like educating a generation because when you educate a girl, you empower her to educate her family and community," shares Shaykh Islahi. This vision perfectly aligns with the Zakat Foundation of America’s initiative to empower girls facing poverty or loss through vocational training and higher education.
This institution plays a crucial role in providing educational opportunities that are otherwise out of reach for many. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the Zakat Foundation of America helps cover the cost of tuition, books, housing, and meals for 250 sponsored students, ensuring they can focus entirely on their education without the burden of financial stress. Jamea-tus-Salehaat delivers a rigorous academic program, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue higher studies or enter the workforce, where they are prepared to succeed in any professional or scholarly setting.
Zakat Foundation of America’s Girls Education Initiative produces four consistent benefits:
Increased Access to Education: Vulnerable girls whose financial constraints might otherwise exclude them receive a high-level education and thrive academically.
Improved Academic Performance: Essential resources provided, students devote themselves to their studies, with better academic results and personal growth.
Enhanced Opportunities: Education opens doors for these girls, enabling them to pursue careers, contribute to their communities, and break the cycle of poverty and powerlessness.
Social Empowerment: By investing in impoverished or distressed girls' educations, our project challenges gender inequality and promotes the growth of women as social leaders and change-makers.
Zakat Foundation of America is funding education and paving the way for these girls to transform their lives and become agents of change in their families and communities. Contributions to this program turn aspirations into tangible realities, empowering young women to rise above their circumstances and lead the way for future generations.
