Yemen currently faces a dire humanitarian crisis with over 21 million people in need as a result of ongoing conflict and repeated natural disasters. An estimated 17 million, 80% of those in need, suffer food deprivation as the country continues to remain food-insecure.
Additionally, 2.3 million Yemeni children face acute malnutrition and are at immediate risk of starvation and disease due to the country’s instability, 400,000 of whom face life-threatening levels of hunger. Without adequate food, they remain utterly susceptible to contract diseases which have spread in the country like malaria and diarrhea.
In January 2024, Zakat Foundation of America launched its Feeding Program to combat this crucial hunger epidemic in Yemen. With your generous support, our Food Security Program has till date helped 1,000 of Yemen’s children living in its most at-risk areas gain vital nutrition. We’re continuing to provide nutrient-rich food packs, including grains, powdered milk, as well as special formulas, enabling children to recover at home, and your contribution can help us carry our work in Yemen further.
