We have been delivering aid in Colombia since 2018. With Venezuela facing economic and political collapse since 2019, more than 1 million Venezuelans have crossed into Colombia, fleeing widespread food and medicine shortages and rampant hyperinflation. Our staff and volunteers have provided thousands of pounds of Emergency Relief kits to those in need on the Venezuelan border. Thousands of blankets, diapers, towels, clothes, and other winter necessities and subsequent shipments are distributed through Zakat Foundation’s local partner, Casa de Paso La Divina Providencia.
Food Assistance comes each year to the food insecure and fasting families through Ramadan Iftar meals for the entire month and thousands of pounds of Udhiyah (Qurbani) sacrifice of freshly slaughtered locally raised cattle, professionally butchered and hand-delivered to thousands on Eid al-Adha via our Seasonal Islamic Giving Program.
Our Sustainability projects include our Livestock Animal Husbandry Program. Mating pairs of cattle are provided to farmers, raise herds, gain milk and meat, and generate other marketable benefits. We also sponsor free health and wellness clinics for Venezuelan refugees.
