During the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, Zakat Foundation workers and volunteers are equipping frontline health care professionals and exposed essential workers with crucial PPE (personal protective equipment, such as medical grade masks, gowns, and gloves). Kenya, though resource rich, has suffered calamities of drought in areas as well as a massive locust infestation that has destroyed crucial harvests. You have enabled Zakat Foundation to step in with emergency relief to help people in these and other crises.
Among the most innovative programs in the humanitarian world, Zakat Foundation donors support the safe housing, education, vocational training and development of separated and orphaned girls, young women, and children from all over East and Central Africa as a main sponsor of Nairobi’s acclaimed RefuSHE project. Zakat Foundation donors are also key humanitarians for our growing Orphan Sponsorship Program in Kenya. Your support also constructs mosques for poor villagers in remote communities, which serve to strengthen local communities and greatly boost literacy among children, who also benefit from a variety of education programs Zakat Foundation coordinates with local educators.
Kenya’s refugees and displaced have further benefited from our earliest and ongoing successful wealth-establishing Livestock Animal Husbandry Program. With your support, our aid professionals have also increased the country’s water security by digging communal Water Wells as Sadaqah Jariyah, particularly in previously undeveloped and hard-to-reach rural villages. Both aid efforts have proven crucial to the essential resettlement of refugees and the displaced.
