Response to Humanitarian Crisis

An estimated 1.3 million people in Togo require humanitarian assistance, with 24% of children under 5 suffering from acute malnutrition. The country faces a serious crisis as people flee ongoing conflicts in neighboring Burkina Faso. Many refugees and displaced people have moved to the northern Savanes region of Togo, where they now make up over 58,000 people, most of whom are women. This has created a shortage of essential services like healthcare, clean water, food, and work opportunities. Access to farmland and education is also very limited, which has led to hunger and poor health. The Savanes region is struggling with severe food insecurity, with about 32% of the population in urgent need of help.

Zakat Foundation of America is providing food security through Seasonal Islamic Giving during Ramadan and Udhiya-Qurbani, ensuring families receive nutritious meals and food staples.
