Situation in Syria: A Continued Struggle for Displaced Families
Nearly 14 years of devastating effects of the ongoing war have forced millions of Syrians to flee their homes time and time again.
Zakat Foundation of America has continued to support them, both when they were displaced from Syria and now as they make their way back home.
Our teams will begin distributing supplies to communities as we first ask Almighty God for His mercy and kindness toward the people of Syria. We also ask you, our beloved donors, to please help us reach out to our brothers and sisters in Syria during these challenging, cold winter days.
The Road Ahead
Widespread food shortages have engulfed Syria’s largest cities, Damascus and Aleppo, with 3.1 million now severely hungry and malnutrition rapidly reaching emergency levels. We’re rushing 1,000 nutritious Food Packages to Syrian families, each one packed with enough wholesome food items to feed a family of five for 10 days.
Clear drinking water is short for these suffering families. We will ensure that families are given water bottles, a lifeline for health and safety. With the frigid temperatures, we’re also readying a container of 8,500 winter blankets now for immediate distribution to warm Syria’s exposed children and vulnerable against the harsh winter cold.
