For Muslims, there is no day that brings more blessings and joy than Eid al-Fitr. Zakat Foundation of America celebrated the end of Ramadan by doing what it does best: empowering the community.
Zakat Foundation of America was one of the main sponsors of the Eid Festival, which took place at the Diyanet Center of America located in Goddard, Maryland. More than 3,000 people attended the morning Eid prayer at the Islamic center, which is known for its beautiful Ottoman-esque architecture attracting Muslims from the nearby states of Maryland, Virginia, and the Washington D.C. area.
After prayer, families enjoyed a free breakfast before attending the festival. The Eid Festival included activities for the youth such as arts and crafts, face-painting, horseback riding, and a moon bounce.
“We would like to thank you and Zakat Foundation for sponsoring our Eid program,” said Professor Ahmed Aydilek from the University of Maryland.
Earlier in Ramadan, Zakat Foundation of America also provided an Eid Iftar dinner at the Diyanet Center of America, serving more than 400 people.
“Thank you so much,” said Joy Andrea. “It was such a beautiful time. May Allah reward you all the time and keep you safe.”
