As many of our own children head back to school in both August and September, we often take for granted the resources available to them for their learning. Brand new school supplies, reliable methods of transportation, dedicated teachers and regularly-updated curriculum - all for our children to grow and become their most successful selves.
But for millions of children around the world, even one year’s worth of education with low quality resources is a dream.
Did you know:
More than 64 million children of primary school age still remain out of school
Only 74% of children in poor households globally attend primary school
Over 85% of the world’s illiterate youth live in Africa and South Asia
In West, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa, children from the top wealth quintile are 5x more likely to complete lower secondary school than those from the bottom wealth quintile
These shocking figures only illustrate the immense disadvantages facing these children, many of whom will only continue to be subjected to cycles of poverty and oppression without proper educational opportunities being made available. This global education crisis for impoverished children must be addressed effectively, and from a truly holistic perspective.
Currently, our Education initiatives provide underserved children in communities across 25 countries, including Cambodia, Palestine, Argentina, the USA and more, with over 548,000 lives impacted thus far.
We focus on providing multiple points of resources for quality, equitable education for learners of all ages including:
Covering the cost of tuition
Distributing school supplies to children and families
Building schools in underserved areas
Coordinating home-based support for orphans and vulnerable children
Providing mentorship and life skills training for students
Running vocational training and livelihood projects for adults
