Zakat Foundation of America has once again received Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating, the highest it awards.
This marks the ninth year the organization has received this top rating from Charity Navigator.
“Astute donors are yearning for greater accountability, transparency, and for concrete results from us,” Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher wrote in a letter to Zakat Foundation.
Amina Demir, Zakat Foundation of America’s chief operating officer, said she can see and feel the growth and potential of the organization’s work making a serious impact.
“We try to fulfill several obligations in our work. We want all our programs to be Zakat or Sadaqah-eligible, and we want to produce results that dignify our beneficiaries while making our donors proud to contribute to our cause,” Demir said. “We do our best to put humanity above all else in our work. We make sure to keep our administrative costs low so we can concentrate on our relief efforts, and we only work with trustworthy, reputable partners to ensure your dollar has the biggest impact.”
In addition to delivering life-saving aid and long-term support to the needy on five continents, Zakat Foundation focuses on being accountable and transparent in its finances.
“Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Zakat Foundation of America exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work,” Thatcher wrote. “Only 25% of the charities we evaluate have received at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Zakat Foundation of America outperforms most other charities in America.
“This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Zakat Foundation of America apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”
This award is in addition to Zakat Foundation of America receiving top rankings this fall from the Better Business Bureau and Great Nonprofits. BBB praised Zakat Foundation for meeting its high standards, categorized as governance, measuring effectiveness, finances, and fundraising and information. All of these are crucial to running a transparent charitable nonprofit organization.
“Congratulations! Zakat Foundation of America has earned a spot on the 2020 Top Rated List!” Great Nonprofits wrote the day after BBB. “Your community has shared their inspiring stories about your work. We congratulate you on all of your accomplishments.”
